Claritin, Zyrtec, and Allegra are good for everyday use.
Benadryl is my holy grail. It honestly gets rid of allergic reactions in ten minutes for me.

I also have bad allergies. I’ve been taking my albuterol for about a year now, when I first got my asthma. Unfortunately, I probably need some Daily asthma medicine to help control it. Thing is though, all the medicines I could take have horrible, horrible side effects that leaves me not wanting to take them. I know, I’ve taken predizone before and hated it. I’ve also been looking some up.

What medicine is there that does help but has the least, ‘nicest’ side effects?

Salbutamol (ventolin). Its only Real side affect is Short runs of tachycardia that last less than half an hour. I use it for my allergy to dust mites. But of course this will have to be prescribed by your Physician this is just my opinion

People die from some allergies.

As an example: If you are allergic to shellfish eat shellfish daily and you will be cured from the allergy.

The only way that really works is when the allergist does it through shots. They start out with a very tiny fraction of the substance such as one part per ten million.

You can buy the generic store brands of OTC allergy medicines which are cheaper. I know that sometimes Walgreens puts their own brand of allergy meds on sale for really good prices now and then. Once I purchased a 150 count bottle of Walgreen’s generic Zyrtec (great for pet allergies) for $25.00. So check around for that.

And my husband is a light sleeper and isn’t getting much sleep when I’m constantly waking up in the middle of the night blowing my nose. What can I take that works asap that I can get over the counter?

I have severe asthma. I have had countless attacks and I’ve had to go to the hospital countless times.. This isn’t to scare you but i would go to the doctor and get some daily medicine. It could be life-threatening if you don’t.

People who have life threatening allergies most of the time find out when they are young. The symptoms are somewhat less severe and can be treated and avoided throughout their lifetime.

I have heard allergy shots over a 3 year period may eliminate the allergy altogether but it is costly and not 100% guaranteed.

I heard that there is treatment with allergy shots over a 3 year period but there are no guarantees that it will work and it would cost me about $1200 in total to do.
Do you think it is worth it? How high is the success rate?

It takes about 5 yrs worth of shots to get rid of allergies. They have studied and found that after 5 yrs, the shots don’t do any good.
