My mom is allergic to dogs, and my sister and I both want to get large dogs. We want to know the chances of us developing the allergy.
So is the allergy generally recessive or dominant?
It is not a simple dominate or recessive trait. There are genetic tendencies with significant environmental influence via epigenetic. Due to the environmental influences, it has been hard to study exact genetics. Due to the complexities of allergies and the immune system, it has been difficult to understand allergies much less predict in whom they will occur. If you want a hypoallergenic large dog, try a standard poodle. They are great dogs, up to some 80 pounds, and not at all like their tiny cousins except for the nonshedding hair.

I have an allergy to perfumes, colognes. I try to avoid going to stores where people are wearing them, but still have to leave my home. So many people wear tons of perfume and it makes me really sick. Is there such a thing as allergy shots I can get for a fragrance allergy ?
A problem with allergies is prolong exposure can make things worse. I’m not sure your case merits the use of immunotherapies. I know that seems harsh but without knowing the exact chemical in the perform which is causing the hypersensitive reaction, you can’t really have a anti-allergy shot. If the problem is really bad, visit your personal physician and negotiate an allergy test. Investigating the actual ingredient is imperative. I tip could be to smear a layer of vaseline over the nostrils when you go out, it doesn’t treat the reaction, but it does reduce the effects [for some people].
Good luck.

It seems I am getting more and more seasonal allergies every year. My symptoms are getting to the point where no matter where I am, indoors or outdoors, I am getting dry coughing hacking attacks. Avoidance of my allergies is not an option anymore. My house is cleaned regularly, and we have air conditioning, so I have done what I can environmentally. I am trying also the netti pot which is not doing anything.
I have heard of allergy shots or taking raw honey, and I would like to know of any natural remedies or permanent solutions that anyone has tried.
I’m the same way. I also get really bad allergy eye, like i have now. My whole left eye is swollen to the point where I can’t see!
Natural Allergy treatment is hard. I’d consider going somewhere and get over the counter medicine. You can get most for 3-6 Dollars. Don’t get brand names. Get ones that are similar to brand names. (It should say on the box what allergy treatment it’s similar too.)

I have a daughter who has very severe headaches. They might even be migraines. Her doctor says it is probably caused by allergy’s. What is the best allergy medication if your only symptom is a headache.
NOTE: Pain relievers alone DO NOT work.
i can’t think of a single allergy medication, especially an OTC, that treats headaches. i wasn’t even aware that headaches could be caused by an allergic reaction.
is your doctor sure maybe they aren’t just migraines? migraines can be triggered by certain foods (milk gets me every time) so they may seem like an allergy.

My insurance plan has different coverages for medical service and for prescription drug. My allergy serum is concocted by my allergist, so is it in the "medical service" category or "prescription drug" category?
Thanks!
It should be considered a compounded prescription drug.

I was diagnosed with a cashew nut allergy as a small child will I still be allergic? I’ve never tried the nut. Is there any way for completely curing the allergies?
A food allergy describes a reaction to food that is immune mediated - characteristic features are rash, difficulty breathing, eczema, swelling, itching - usually around the mouth and throat. Food intolerance describes a physical reaction to food that is not immune mediated - feaures may be similar to those of food allergy, and include vomiting, ulceration, abodminal pain, diarrhoea, bloating, and it is thought that some food intolerance may be associated with features such as arthritis, seizures, migraine etc.
One way of finding out if you’re allergic to cashew nuts is to try and persuade your GP to do a RAST test for cashew nut protein. Some allergies can be cured by hyposensitisation, which involves desensitisation to the allergen by sequential administration of increasing doses of the offending substance. This should only be done in specialist clinics, and is not advised for life threatening allergy or peanut allergy.
